Consultative Meeting with organizations working with/ for Persons with Diabilities
MALC organized a consultative meeting with organizations working with/ for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) on Monday, November 26, 2018, at the MALC Head Office, Saddar, to enhance networking between partner organizations, collaboration for awareness-raising activities among communities, develop a referral mechanism between partner organizations and partnership for community-based research in the field of disability.
Representatives from CBID Network, NOWPDP, Disabled Welfare Association, Handicap International, DUHS, PRCDP, IHDF, Help Line Pakistan and Inclusive Policies and Child Rights were present for the meeting.
MALC is engaged in Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) of people with disabilities (PWDs) and has rehabilitated over 3,800 PWDs by providing assistive devices, tricycles, wheelchairs, livelihood assistance, technical education, vocational training, inclusive education etc. It advocates for breaking barriers for employment and self-employment by supporting income-generating programs, for inclusion education, accessible health and awareness among people with disabilities and families for obtaining Disability Certificates.
The program is gradually spreading from Karachi to other districts of Sindh Province.
