Leprosy Seminar at Kharadar General Hospital, Kharadar-Karachi

MALC commences 66th Leprosy week celebrations by organizing a Leprosy Seminar at Kharadar General Hospital, Kharadar – Karachi on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. The objectives of the seminar were to spread awareness to achieve zero deformities in children, zero transmission of Leprosy and zero discrimination in the society.

The seminar commenced with admiration of Dr. Pfau’s selfless services rendered for persons affected by Leprosy and humanity by the CEO of Kharadar General Hospital Hospital Dr. Khalid. There were a total of 60 participants consisting of doctors, nurses and managerial staff. The students at the Hospital enacted a Leprosy play. Mr. Daniel Karamat, Health Education Officer – MALC, in his speech highlighted the need for early diagnosis and treatment of  Leprosy to prevent deformities. Dr. Shahid Zafar, Training Coordinator – MALC delivered a brief lecture on Leprosy while Ms. Sonya Chaudary, Health Educationist – MALC conducted a quiz.

Mr. Savio Martin Pereira, Director HR & Administration requested the participants to refer suspected Leprosy cases to our nearest MALC centres for early diagnosis and treatment and also appreciated the kind gesture shown by Kharadar General Hospital towards MALC’s activities.
