Socio-economic Rehabilitation of Patients

Social rehabilitation has been an integral part of the Leprosy Control Programme. By the efforts of the Leprosy team, positive interventions of rehabilitation have been successful in most of the Provinces, where 80% to 90% of the Leprosy patients have now been fully integrated into their own communities. Five basic human rights; food and cloth, shelter, education, access to health and equal chance in labour market are the key indicators which are considered in assessment of social need of patients and later in the evaluation after the intervention has been made. The Social Services Department is providing the following to the patients:

- Regular social help to deformed patients
- Housing help to deserving patients
- Economical help to patients and their children
- Help in medical emergencies to needy patients
- Education helps to patients and their children
