Celebration of Pakistan’s 74th Independence Day
MALC commemorated Pakistan’s 74th Independence Day on August 14, 2020, with the the flag hoisting by Mr. Mervyn Lobo, CEO – MALC along with the staff at Iqbal Pir Ali Park, MALC Head Office, at 9:00 am followed by the singing of the national anthem and patriotic songs.
Mr. Lobo in his speech appreciated the staff for their participation, with the hope that the trend Dr. Ruth Pfau, Founder Member – MALC had started, will continue with the same spirit in the coming years.
He also took the opportunity to address the issue of the media using a picture of a girl depicted as Dr. Ruth Pfau in her youth which is not correct and would like to convey the same to the newspaper media. He also stated that Dr. Ruth Pfau should not be known as Pakistan’s Mother Teresa as both of them are well known for their own distinct personalities and that we all Pakistanis would like Dr. Pfau to be remembered as ‘Dr. Ruth Pfau of Pakistan’.
He concluded his speech by expressing “despite the difference in opinions among people throughout the country, August 14 marks a day when each one of us unite together, as our strong sentiments for the nation is one, and with the same spirit we should work for our country”.
