Founders Day is celebrated each year to pay tribute to the women who laid the foundations of MALC: Dr. Ruth Pfau, Sr. Berenice Vargas, Sr. Jeannine Genus, Mother Doyle and Dr. Zarina Fazalbuoy. The day is dedicated to these women because of their commitment, vision and role that they played as founding members of MALC. On this occasion Mr. Mervyn Lobo (CEO, MALC) spoke about the founding members and announced that the wards and certain departments are being named after the founding members and the dedicated volunteers who have served MALC. Later a slide show was also showcased on the occasion to narrate the services which were rendered by not only the founding members but also the volunteers and why the wards and certain departments are being named after them. Dr. Pfau and Sr. Jeanine after the slide show unveiled the plaque to officially announce the decision. Dr. Pfau- Founding member MALC shared her thought and said that “Yesterday we celebrated Women’s Day and it is heartening to see that the foundation of MALC was laid by women only” .In her speech, Dr. Pfau stressed that the current workforce at MALC requires focus and needs to find their own objective, while keeping in mind the overall objective of MALC: The patient is the centre of our concern.
