GLRA/DAHW is a long-time partner of MALC, and has supported Leprosy control activities in Pakistan since 1962. With Leprosy now firmly under control in the country, their partnership has been instrumental in the realization of the WHO’s Roadmap for Zero Leprosy, which focuses on Zero Transmission, Zero Disability, and Zero Stigma.
Caritas- Austria has been supporting MALC’s community development initiatives since 2005, including disaster relief, and capacity building. Most recently, they have helped improve the standard of education for students in the areas of Manghopir, Khamiso Goth, Adam Goth, and Gadap through structural enhancements, teacher training, and vocational training opportunities in digital skills, beautician sessions, and tailoring. Additionally, they have contributed towards the improvement of mother and child healthcare facilities in these regions.
CBM has been supporting MALC’s Blindness control activities in Karachi and Balochistan since 1988. Their partnership has most recently helped initiate an integrated people-centered eye care plan in Gwadar- Balochistan to make eye care services equitable, affordable, and accessible to all.
Supporting community and health related projects for over two decades, MISSIO has played a pivotal role in advancing MALC’s vision of ‘Health and Inclusive Development for All’, by providing funds for the identification, treatment, and rehabilitation of persons affected by Leprosy in Sindh. Additionally, they have supported the maintenance of the Girls Hostel in Manghopir, which serves as a safe haven for girls from broken families to complete their education.
The St. Francis Leprosy Guild has been a pillar of support in MALC’s efforts to control- and now, eliminate Leprosy in Pakistan, for over fifteen years. The provision of grants catering to maintenance, and the identification, treatment, and rehabilitation of Leprosy patients has had a profound impact on the quality of life of thousands of beneficiaries over the years.
The WHO provides MALC with Multi-Drug Therapy (MDT) on a free of cost basis to treat persons affected by Leprosy, along with teaching manuals for medical, para-medical and other medical staff.
Caritas- Germany has sponsored many of MALC’s emergency relief projects, benefitting thousands across Pakistan as and when emergencies arise.
Lepra Hilfewerk has consistently supported various projects and initiatives that have proved to be significant in the control of Leprosy across the country, and Community Health in general.
Since its inception in (year), the Dr. Ruth Pfau Stiftung Foundation has supported health-related projects implemented by MALC across the country.
MALC is implementing a TB control initiative with the kind support of The Global Fund. Adopting a Public-Private mix approach, the project engages General Practitioners and private labs which conduct Chest Camps and examinations for close contacts of TB patients in selected districts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
MALC is grateful for the continuous support of the Fred Hollows Foundation, which has seen thousands of people across Sindh and Balochistan benefit from free of cost eye treatment and services. The two organizations are currently implementing a project aimed at reducing the prevalence of preventable blindness and visual impairment in targeted districts of Pakistan. Within the framework of this project, Cataract Surgeries are being conducted through Surgical Eye Camps in Balochistan and at the MALC Hospital in Karachi.
We are delighted to have recently partnered with Sightsavers, who have a shared commitment of controlling blindness in Pakistan. With their support, we are currently conducting Cataract surgeries through surgical eye camps in low socio-economic areas in Balochistan.
Thanks to the gracious contribution of MIVA Austria, MALC has been able to ensure the timely presence of medical personnel to conduct OPD and outreach activities in remote areas. The vehicles acquired with their support have also helped in transporting patients who lack access to healthcare services, by providing pick and drop services especially during emergency situations.
We thank our friends in Switzerland for their generosity, which continues to help MALC conduct essential activities and maintenance, especially in the field of Mother and Child Healthcare.
With the support of SPIRO USA, MALC has been able to continue household screening and other essential services conducive to the control of Tuberculosis in Rawalpindi, Punjab.
